St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Emanuel Lutheran Church and South United Methodist Church will jointly present a unique and informative Lenten program, focusing on Hartford Seminary's International Peacemaking Program. The International Peacemaking Program brings young religious leaders, from countries where there is interreligious conflict, to Harford Seminary for a year of study to gain leadership skills for peacemaking. These peacemaking skills are then put to work upon their return home.
The program on March 21st (at St. Mary's Episcopal Church) will begin with a brief worship service, followed by a presentation from one of the program graduates. The Reverend Dr. Jonathan Lee, Coordinator of the International Peacemaking Program, will speak/preach on the importance of intentionally engaging the religious "other" , as an essential dimension of modern discipleship. The evening will include ample opportunity to engage in conversation with the presenters and each other, concerning how we each are called to be peacemakers in our diverse communities.
