Outreach Committee
The Outreach mission is to enable our parish to reach outside its walls to help others at the town, state, national and international levels; to raise St. Mary's awareness of what is going on outside and beyond our religious community; to serve as an extension of our faith, a medium of communication, and the gateway to our parish.
Much of the committee's work is done by committee members and an extensive group of volunteers. We raise and distribute funds to help others. Examples include:
Within St. Mary’s - we have provided support to numerous ministries and initiatives. We also provided a Fall Luncheon for those (usually seniors) who cannot easily attend church regularly
For help to other agencies in Manchester - we have supported the MARCH Dream Starters (part of a five-year pledge), MACC fuel bank, and more.
For help in Connecticut - we have supported the Trinity Episcopal Church Katrina Medical Clinic, the Bishop's 5K for Kids, Visiting Nurses and Health Services of Connecticut.
For help within our nation - we have provided funds to help repair damage from Hurricane Katrina.
For help worldwide - we have supported the mission of the Little Roses in Honduras.
To help support and fund the above efforts we conduct a 3T (goods and services) Auction, sell Christmas wreaths and more.
3T Auction – This is a fun event where you can assist our outreach activities by bidding on items such as:
•Theater tickets
•Wine and cheese baskets
•Two hours of leaf raking
•Delicious pies and goodies
•Vacation home rentals
....and many other unique and valuable products and services, which reflect the time, talents, and treasure donated by St. Mary's members. All proceeds go to help support our Outreach Ministries, highlighted above.
Shepherd's Place Kitchen – Once each quarter, St. Mary's serves lunch at Manchester’s Shepherd's Place Kitchen. This is a wonderful opportunity for parishioners, on behalf of St. Mary's, to provide help for those in need within our community. No previous experience is necessary! Your time at the kitchen will be spent setting up for lunch, serving the lunch and cleaning up afterwards. Volunteers are needed for this very worthwhile ministry. Please call the office to volunteer or if you have any questions.
