Funerals
St. Mary’s stands ready to offer comfort and the consolation of faith to those who have lost a loved one. A centerpiece of this is the funeral service, rites contained in The Book of Common Prayer.
The funeral home selected by the family will contact St. Mary’s to arrange for the funeral service to be held here. After confirming that a priest is available to conduct the service, our administrative staff will schedule the service and arrange a time for the family and the clergy to meet. It is preferable to hold the service at a time when members of the congregation will be able to be present.
The priest will meet with you to plan the service, such as readings and hymns.
Receptions – Families often choose to hold a reception at St. Mary’s following the service. Our administrative staff can provide information about this.
Memorial Garden – St. Mary’s has a Memorial Garden for the burial of cremated remains. The Policy and Regulations governing the use of the Memorial Garden provides important details regarding this designated area of the church property.
Flowers – Families may arrange to have a florist deliever arrangements to the church and/or floral arrangements may be brought from the funeral home if the visiting hours were held there. Families are encouraged to designate donations in lieu of flowers to St. Mary’s Book of Remembrance or a favorite charity as a lasting tribute to a loved one.
Memorials – Families may want to make a gift of a specific item or create an endowed account at St. Mary’s to honor a loved one. A complete list of memorial gifts is available from our office and may be chosen in consultation with the rector.
Fees – The funeral home has information about any fees associated with the funeral service at St. Mary’s and will discuss these with the family.
